Dubai has a new Guinness World Record Holder as Giacomo Di Lorenzi completed the most mountain climbers in 60 seconds at GEMS World Academy last week.

The Athletes in Schools athletics prodigy has been working hard for six months in the build up to his world record attempt and everyone at Gulf Youth Sport is delighted to see his dedication paying off last week.

Speaking after his successful effort, with 150 mountain climbers completed within a minute, Giacomo was delighted to become a world record holder with his family, friends and teammates in attendance.

“The record is done! 150 reps which is just crazy because that’s also a new personal best. I’m super happy because for the last six months I’ve put in so much work – I’m so happy with the result because it means that all of the hard work that I’ve put in has been worth it for the record.”

Mr Cole, PE teacher at GEMS WEK Al Khail where Giacomo goes to school, was there to support the young man in his record attempt and he was really pleased to see all of his dedication and commitment paying off when it counted.

“I’m absolutely delighted for Giacomo. I remember his coming in to the classroom and telling me that he’d applied for a Guinness World Record attempt and that he had to wait 12 weeks.

“He’s been training so hard for the last six months in preparation for this. He’s been asking to go to the gym in his free periods showing his dedication and hard work.”

Well done, Giacomo!
