JESS Students Enhancing Studies with PT Qualification

Five JESS students are now fully qualified personal trainers after gaining their qualifications while studying for the BTEC Extended Diploma in Sport .

Connor, Bradley, Ben, Lewis and Megan will all walk out the doors of JESS fully registered with the personal training level 3 qualification.

The course lasts for eight to 10 weeks and includes online modules combined with practical assessments and is delivered by personal training company Aikaro Solutions.

The course does not just focus on form and technique, but also teachers students about time management, communication, business development and health and safety.

Connor said this has added value to his future ambitions, as he looks to pursue a career in sports management.

“This personal training qualification interested me because as an athlete I am a regular gym user and this course has taught me how to improve my gym training and also how to communicate with potential clients,” he said.

JESS head of academic PE Miss Flanagan said the the BTEC level 3 diploma in sport is continuing to grow in popularity.

“Our students see the benefits of studying a varied and practical based programme of sports-related modules. There is also a broad range of both further education and job opportunities on offer once they graduate. This personal training qualification is a great example of how this course prepares our students for life after school,” she said.

The course began at JESS in 2017, with students who have completed the two year qualification continuing on to further study at at universities including Bath, Stirling, Leeds and Sheffield Hallam.
