It seems impossible to think this time last year Girls Community Football was launched. The intention behind the competition was to provide an independent platform providing opportunities for girls to play in a structured format and friendly environment. After three half-day tournaments, COVID-19 halted proceedings.
Now as sports start to feature again, the format has been changed up and a four week league will be provided for girl footballers running each Friday morning from October 30 – November 20. The leagues will be run in accordance with the health and safety guidelines and protocols as mandated by the Dubai Sports Council and the venue.
The age categories are 100% compliant with the directives of the UAEFA and Dubai Sports Council. Therefore, the upcoming Girls Community Football league will have two age divisions as follows:
12s: Players must be 12 years old on or before October 30th. (12 & 13 year olds are able to play)
14s: Players must be 14 years old (up until 16 years old) on or before October 30th. (14 & 15 year olds are able to play)
The league is open to all clubs, school and parent led teams with no restrictions on players, other than age. As restrictions ease, watch out for subsequent leagues and social ‘Football Festivals’ throughout the year.
