Dubai English Speaking College and Hamilton Aquatics were amongst the big winners at this past weeks UAE Teen Sport & Fitness Awards 2019.
DESC were named Best Sports School – Division A by a panel of representatives from the UAE’s wider sporting community, whilst Hamilton Aquatics took home the Best Club/Academy prize at Friday’s award ceremony at Emirates Golf Club, Dubai.
Both scooped their respective awards last year as well.
51 schools, 71 academies and 372 student athletes were amongst the 601 nominations at the event designed to showcase the sporting achievements of young people across the country.
In the Overall Categories, there were also wins for Dubai English Speaking School (Fittest School) and Dubai American Academy (Best Sports Facility), to name but a few.
In the individual awards, it was a night to remember for – amongst others – Mohammed Aayaz, who was named U19 Male Footballer of the Year, and Nilisha Bhandari who won U15 Female Martial Artist of the Year.
Grace Coward of GEMS WSO was named Athlete of the Year, whilst The Millenium School Dubai’s Margieta Rapandas was crowned Best Coach/Manager.
This year marked the fourth anniversary of the UAE Teen Sport & Fitness Awards, which has grown exponentially since the inaugural event in 2016, when there were only 396 nominations across all categories.
Entries for the 2020 ceremony open on January 5th next year.
