Half-a-Point Heartbreaker: Dubai College Narrowly Edges Out Jumeirah College to Claim World School Games Chess Crown

The grand finale of the World School Games (WSG) Chess Championship delivered an absolute tactical masterclass, with the region’s finest young minds locking horns in a battle of pure strategy. When the final clocks stopped, the leaderboard revealed a dramatic photo-finish, as Dubai College clinched the championship title by the absolute slimmest of margins.

Led by an exceptional performance from their top-board maestro Aryan Mehta, Dubai College amassed a total team score of 21.5 to claim first place. The victory required absolute precision on every board to hold off a relentless, down-to-the-wire surge from their closest rivals.

The Chasing Pack: JC and Hartland Push the Limit

Securing a stellar but heartbreaking 2nd place overall was Jumeirah College. Spearheaded by top player Vivaan Rana, Jumeirah College pushed the eventual champions to the absolute brink, finishing with an incredible team score of 21. A single different result on any board could have flipped the entire tournament on its head.

Rounding out the elite podium in 3rd place overall were the Hartland Bishops, finishing with a strong team score of 20. Top player Anastasiya Sevatsyanchuk led the charge for the Hartland contingent, showcasing phenomenal technical discipline throughout the high-pressure rounds.
