Global En garde: AOFA’s Advay Banerjee Strikes Silver on the International Fencing Stage
The international fencing circuit is notoriously unforgiving, but Oman’s brightest young prodigy has proven once again that he belongs among the global elite. Competing at a prestigious international fencing tournament in Hong Kong, 9-year-old Advay Banerjee produced a stunning run to capture the Silver Medal in the Epee Boys U10 division.
Advay, a Grade 4 student at The American International School of Muscat (TAISM), has been honing his craft since the age of six. Training under the expert guidance of AOFA (Al Oula Fencing Academy)—Oman’s first and only dedicated Epee academy—Advay’s tactical execution in the Far East was a masterclass in poise and precision.
A True Global Competitor
While the silver medal in Hong Kong is an exceptional milestone, standing on international podiums is becoming second nature for the young Muscat resident. Despite his young age, Advay has already built a formidable competitive passport.
His relentless pursuit of excellence has seen him secure high-profile youth medals across India, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, and Turkey. His latest triumph in Hong Kong cements his status as one of the most prolific junior Epee fencers operating in the Asian-Gulf corridor.
Putting Oman Fencing on the Map
Advay’s continued international ascent is a massive victory for Al Oula Fencing Academy. As pioneers of the sport within the Sultanate, AOFA has created a world-class high-performance pipeline capable of taking grassroots athletes from age six and turning them into continental medalists.
With the backing of his school community at TAISM and the elite technical training at AOFA, Advay’s global medal haul is only going to grow. The future of Omani fencing looks incredibly sharp.
