After a flawless campaign in the inaugural season of the UAE FA Academy League, the du LaLiga High Performance Centre team is now set to take on the best in Europe.
The squad, made up of the brightest U-18 talents in the UAE, are currently en route to Spain where they will face off against La Liga giants Atlético de Madrid. Following the team's domestic domination, La Liga's club scouts will undoubtedly be keeping a careful eye on proceedings as they look to unearth the next lucrative rising star.
For the boys involved in the programme, this is their second trip to Spain following last year’s visit where the du LaLiga HPC team met with LaLiga Youth Clubs Malaga CF, Granada CF and Cordoba CF and Real Betis.
They will return again in August, along with the newly selected U16 team, for an intensive training camp and to play competitive matches against other leading LaLiga youth teams (Granada CF, Cádiz CF, Sevilla FC, Real Betis, Malaga CF), where they will once again be exposed to scouts from various LaLiga clubs.
Speaking ahead of the trip, du LaLiga HPC Head Coach and former Malaga CF Club Head Coach Rafael Gil said, “After an amazing performance in the UAE FA Academy League, the du LaLiga HPC team is ready to take on the best LaLiga youth teams in Spain. The players have been going from strength to strength but the only way to test the full stretch of their skills is in matches against LaLiga clubs, known as the best in the world.”
