Messi & Co grabbed the headlines for their epic comeback aganst PSG in the Champions League on Wednesday night, but the men from Catalonia were given a taste of their own medicine when FCBEscola met E-Sports Football Club in Week 7 of the du UAE FA Academy League.
E-Sports got off to the worst possible start in their game against FCBEscola, with FCB's Max Foster opening the score in the 7th minute with a powerful goal.
The Spaniards continued to dominate the first half which resulted in another goal, this time from Chris Moussa, giving FCB a 2-0 lead at half time.
In the second half, E-sports were undeterred, coming back on the offensive and creating many attempts on goal from outside the box.
FCBescola retaliated with a similar offensive play, striking the ball towards the E-Sports goal from the wings and the center, but unable to secure a third goal.
It was an FCBEscola foul at 59 minutes that changed the game’s fate as E-Sports’s Jack Manson powered the ball past the wall and into the top right of the net. A fumble by FCBEscola’s defense was all it took for Jack to find the back of the net again a moment later.
With less than 10 minutes left on the clock, the pressure was on and both teams fought hard to take the lead. It was a superb play from E-sports with a pass to team captain Alex Hupe who shot without hesitation to score the deciding goal at minute 67 leading E-Sports to take the win at 3-2.
Thursday saw Al Ahli Club meeting Legends and taking the win 5-0 while over at the Sevens du LaLiga HPC met Elite Dubai and kept their lead on the league table winning 5-0.
On Friday EFF met Emirates Club met in Abu Dhabi and won the match, giving them three points which allowed them to move up to fifth position in the league table.
The last match of the week saw Abu Dhabi Elite facing Dubai’s TFA at Zayed Sports City. TFA’s Mazen Mohammed opened the score line at the 13th minute, but Omar Zaidan from Abu Dhabi Elite immediately retaliated with a beautiful goal.
Wanting to remain in the top 3 of the league table, Abu Dhabi Elite kept the pressure on and scored another 2 goals before the half time whistle.
TFA came back strong in the second half when Mazen Mohammed found the back of the net again at 55 minutes, but it was Abu Dhabi Elite who took the victory at 3-2 and sealed their spot in second place on the league table in week seven.
