Friday saw the cream of the UAE's youth football descend on Jebel Ali School to battle it out in the My Football Cup.
The event, which was co-ordinated by M&S Sports, saw 48 teams from across the region come together in a series of tournaments that ran from the crack of dawn right through to the evening twilight.
In keeping with the ethos of the groundbreaking Academy Development League, the emphasis of the day was on friendly competition in an unpressurized environment. Parents and coaches were encouraged to let the players learn and develop from their own mistakes; an approach Mark Gaitskell (M&S's Managing Director) believes will lead to increased skill levels, game awareness, and crucially, player enjoyment.
As well as the action on the pitch, Sun and Sand Sports provided some high-octane entertainment on the sidelines in the form of several soccer skills-based challenges, which saw the top performers from the day walk away with a shiny new pair of Nike and Adidas Football Boots.
Although the emphasis was on fun, there were still prizes up for grabs in the tournaments, a list of which can be found below.
