2018-19 Premier League Fixtures Released

Published Date: 06/18/2018

The English Premier League fixtures have been released, and as expected, there are some mouth-watering prospects in store for fans of the English top flight.

Sports journalist turned Trans World Operations Executive, Daniel Shields, gave us the lowdown on the five matches he's most excited about taking groups to next season.

Match 1: 4th December 2018, Manchester United vs Arsenal

Both of these teams enjoyed somewhat underwhelming 2017-18 seasons, and they will be looking to reconfirm themselves as genuine title contenders in 2018-19. Regardless of their league position, the atmosphere at Old Trafford is always electric when these two sides meet.

Jose Mourinho's Manchester United are two good signings away from being a genuine title force to be reckoned with, especially if they can find a way to maximise Paul Pogba's considerable talents in the heart of their midfield.
Manchester United will be looking to deliver on the promise their recent signings have shown. Alongside Pogba, big names such as Alexis Sanchez and Romelu Lukaku will feel they have much more to give in a United shirt. If Jose Mourinho can get these three men playing at their best they will go some way to closing the gap on their Manchester rivals.

Arsenal have, at last, got a new man at the healm, and if Unai Emery can toughen up the Gunners soft centre, they should be back in the hunt for Champions League football. Mesut Ozil and Aaron Ramsey are two of the league's most talented midfielders and if they can both stay fit Arsenal are sure to have a more positive campaign this year.

Match 2: 30th January 2019, Newcastle United vs Manchester City

St James’ Park is one of the stadiums in England where groups enjoy going the most. Their team are unlikely to be challenging for the title, but the Toon Army are nuts. Regardless of whether they win, lose or draw they’re sure to be singing their hearts out from the first whistle to the last. The atmosphere is really special, especially when Newcastle are in the lead in a big match.

Manchester City are just incredible to watch, they blew everyone else out the water last season en route to recording the highest points total in Premier League history and it looks like they will be the ones to catch in the new season.

City's speed of thinking and quality of movement is even more impressive in the flesh, and the chance to see the squad peform at the top of their game is such a great experience for young players.

Match 3: 16th March 2019, Manchester United vs Manchester City

This match is fast becoming a clash between the most expensive squads in the world. With transfer fees sky-rocketing and Manchester's two sides in a strong position to spend, it is likely that the players on the pitch at Old Trafford in March will be worth close to £1 billion!

With the money brings high quality players, and both teams have these in adundance. Manchester CIty have the city's bragging rights at the moment after an emphatic league and cup double last season and Pep Guardiola doesn't appear to be a man to rest on his laurels.

There is mounting pressure on Jose Mourinho to deliver a genuine title race after the disappointment of last season. He is tasked with bringing a more attractive style of play to Old Trafford after much criticism about his 'park the bus' mentality in the big matches last year. With City in such a dominant position there is a lot of work to do for the Reds next season.

Match 4: 27th April 2019, Manchester United vs Chelsea

These two power-houses of English football will be desperate to reclaim their place at the top of the pile come the end of the season. Looking at the dates, it’s almost certain that this match will be a huge important in the race to reach the Champions League, and it has the potential to have a huge baring on the destination of the Premier League title.

With uncertainty around the future of Chelsea manager Antonio Conte, and a number of players reportedly unhappy with the current regime, it is set to be a big season for the Blues. A win over United in the FA Cup final at Wembley last season may not have been enough to save Conte from the sack but the failure of the club to act quickly upon the conclusion of the 2017-18 season means that there has been a black cloud hanging over Stamford Bridge during the summer.

Match 5: 4th May 2019, Newcastle United vs Liverpool

Two sides famed for their excellent and passionate support will be hoping they are still in the race for Europe when this match rolls around on the penultimate week of the Premier League season.

Beaten in the Champions League final last season, Liverpool will want to taste more glory in the league and in Europe this season. A fourth place finish in the Premier League means they will be back in the Champions League again in 2018-19, but they will be hoping to cement their place at the top end of the league this season.

With a number of new signings rumoured at Anfiled this summer, and Naby Keita set to join Liverpool from German side RB Leipzig on 1st July, Jurgen Klopp's side will be looking to improve on their fourth place finish last season.

Their quality, combined with Newcastle’s passion and work-rate should make this one a cracker.
