Loughborough University Announced as Hosts of 2019 World Schools Netball Cup

The organisers of the World School Games have today confirmed that a deal has been struck with Loughborough University for the hosting rights to the 2019 World Schools Netball Cup.

The event, which will take place between 22-26 June 2019, will see the best school teams from across the globe compete in U13 & U15 age-categories in a bid to become World Champions.

James Hair, chairman of the WSG Organising Committee spoke to Gulf Youth Sport in an exclusive interview yesterday.

“We are delighted to be able to announce the partnership with Loughborough University. Being the number one sports university in the World, and home of Vitality Superleague powerhouse, Loughborough Lightning, Loughborough provides the perfect platform for the future stars of the game to showcase their talents on the world stage.”

Hair also revealed that in addition to playing at Loughborough’s state-of-the-art sports village, competitors will also get a taste of student life, as they’ll be staying on campus at the university's newly finished 'Elite Athlete Centre'.

“We understand that for many of the athletes competing in the event, the prospect of continuing their education and sporting careers at Loughborough University would be a dream come true. With this in mind, we aim to provide the students with the opportunity to experience what life as a student athlete at Loughborough could be like; inspiring them to strive for excellence in both their academic and sporting endeavours."

Registration for the event will open in early October. Stay tuned to Gulf Youth Sport for more World School Games developments.
