GYS PREVIEW: FROM THE TRACK TO THE STAGE: DIA EMIRATES HILLS TO LEAD THE GULF AT WSG DANCE

The Next Arena: DIA Emirates Hills Eyes History at the Inaugural World Schools Dance Championship

The World School Games (WSG) Event Series is expanding its horizons once again. This June, the spotlight shifts from the stadium to the stage for the inaugural WSG Dance.

Leading the charge from the Middle East are the “Loyal Lions” of Dubai International Academy (DIA) Emirates Hills. Fresh off their U13 Overall World Championship win in Doha, DIA is stepping into a brand-new arena. This move cements their status as one of the most versatile sporting institutions in the Gulf.

The Evolution of a Powerhouse

DIA Emirates Hills is a name synonymous with WSG history. They have traditionally dominated Football and Athletics. Now, they are prepared to showcase their depth in the world of performing arts.

The inaugural Dance event offers a global platform for student-athletes. It rewards the same precision, stamina, and mental toughness found in the pool or on the pitch. For DIA, this is an opportunity to prove their “Lion Heart” beats just as strongly in the dance studio.

A Global Stage in the UK

The event takes place from 11-13 June 2026. It will bring together schools from across the globe to compete in various categories. These include Contemporary, Jazz, Street Hip Hop, and Open styles.

The competition will be judged by industry professionals. This ensures the “professional-grade” experience that WSG is known for. Participants can expect high-octane performances and a festive atmosphere. It marks a significant milestone in the diversification of the international school sporting calendar.

The “Multisport” Mindset

“We are thrilled to see our students represent DIA in this new discipline,” says the DIA coaching team. “Dance requires incredible athletic ability. It fits perfectly with our goal of developing well-rounded athletes. Our students are ready to make their mark on this global stage.”

As the mid-June launch approaches, the GYS community will be watching closely. DIA Emirates Hills has already conquered the “Pitch and Pool.” Now, they look to take the “Podium” on the stage.
