Passionate about promoting pupil development through sport, The Royal Grammar School Guildford Dubai hosted a once-in-a-lifetime meet and train rugby experience last week with one of the world’s best rugby sevens teams, Olympic gold medallists Fiji.
With Dubai 7s taking place at the weekend for the first time since 2019, the Fijians took time out of their busy schedule to pass on some of their knowledge to local students.
120 pupils from Year 2 to Year 6 enrolled at Dubai based Cognita schools that include RGS Guildford Dubai, Horizon English School and Ranches Primary School had the chance to take part in an exciting academy coaching session with the squad, as well as a meet and greet with the team’s star players including Olympic gold medallist, Osea Kolinisau.
The Royal Grammar School Guildford Dubai’s Head of Sport, James Bennett said: “We want to inspire our young people to be the best version of themselves and we truly believe that we can do this through sport.
“Providing them with amazing experiences like this is our promise to them of delivering the best sporting opportunities. It has been a brilliant day seeing our pupils out on the field with these respected sportsmen. It has been a truly memorable experience for all.”
The one-off event was organised by the Royal Grammar School Guildford Dubai and Cognita Schools, and in association with Dubai Hurricanes and L.A.R. (Life After Rugby).
