Eight days of intensive training in the Scottish capital lie ahead for Repton’s Rugby Squads.
The tour, which is the brainchild of Repton Dubai‘s Head of Primary PE, Callum Brooks, will see players engaging in daily double sessions at Merchiston Castle School, as well as spending time with PRO14 sides Edinburgh Rugby and Glasgow Warriors.
Focus and Motivation
Brooks, himself a former Merchiston Castle student, believes the tour is just what his players need ahead of their season.
“This is a great opportunity for the boys to gel as a team and get some high quality training in ahead of the new DASSA season. It’s still sweltering in Dubai at this time of year, so the cooler climate should allow the training sessions to be much more productive.”
“We’ll be training with Merchiston’s Director of Rugby, Roddy Deans, who is also the Scottish Schoolboys’ U16 Head Coach, so that will be fantastic for the boys.
They’re also hoping to have a bit of a Q & A with some of the Edinburgh/Glasgow players. To get an insight into what it takes to make it as a professional player will be a great source of focus and motivation.”
Stomping Ground
Brooks revealed that he was very excited to show off his former stomping ground.
“To be able to take the boys back to the school that I attended is a great feeling. I’m looking forward to seeing some familiar faces, and I’m sure our boys will have a fantastic experience.”
Away from the field, the players will work on their Strength and Conditioning at CrossFit MTS, and will also scale Edinburgh’s infamous (extinct) volcano, Arthur’s Seat.
