The countdown to the Emirates Dubai 7s is on, and Repton Dubai's Royals have put in the groundwork. The school's senior boys' rugby and girls' netball squads spent four days in Abu Dhabi from 22 to 25 October on a Dubai 7s Prep Tour organised by TWEDEX.
Unbeaten Rugby Royals
The boys made the most of their game time. Friendlies against AD Quins at Zayed Sports City and at Nord Anglia International School ended the same way: wins for Repton, and an unbeaten tour.
Between fixtures, the squad trained on Le Méridien Abu Dhabi's own pitch and at the British International School Abu Dhabi, with gym sessions to match.
Two Teams on Court
The netballers opened against Thunder Netball Club at Nord Anglia, trained at 321 and Basma British School, and finished with a tournament at the Abu Dhabi Cricket and Sports Hub. Repton entered two teams, an A team in Division 1 and a B team in Division 2, and both held their own against Thunder, Capital, Mill Hill and Al Ain sides.
Recover, Refuel, Bond
Recovery was built into every day, with pool, steam and sauna sessions at the hotel and a nutrition and sports science session for the whole group. Off the pitch, bowling, padel at Amigos Padel and a Nando's awards dinner brought both squads together.
With the Dubai 7s on the horizon, the Royals head into the season fitter, sharper and closer as a group.
