The long-anticipated World School Golf Championship officially gets underway today in Fife, Scotland, bringing nearly 100 junior athletes, senior contenders, and staff delegates together for a week of premier competition across three of the region’s finest courses: Ladybank, Kittocks, and The Torrance at Fairmont St Andrews.
Organized under the World School Games banner, the championship showcases a striking international footprint, uniting school teams and independent entries from across the globe while featuring heavy representation from top Middle East institutions.

Gulf Powerhouses Lead the Charge
Leading the regional contingent in Scotland are two of Dubai’s heavyweight sporting schools: Dubai English Speaking College (DESSC) and Brighton College Dubai, alongside American International School Riyadh (AIS Riyadh) representing Saudi Arabia.
- DESSC: Heading into the championship with a formidable nine-player roster including Senior contenders Freddie Dalton, Michael Swart, Abdulla Darwish, Morgan Barr, Robbie Mungin, Freddie Barbara, Zachary Nye, and Shantanu Narayan, backed by Junior standout Alexander Grieve.
- Brighton College Dubai: Deploying a deep six-player squad featuring Seniors Oscar Bell and Riccardo Bianchi, alongside Junior talents William Clark, Harrison Daniels, Jack O’Brien, and George Wylie.

To take home the crown, competitors must navigate three distinct links and coastal challenges across the week:
- Ladybank Golf Club: A classic, pine-lined inland heathland track that serves as a legendary Final Open Qualifying venue.
- The Kittocks Course (Fairmont St Andrews): A dramatic coastal layout clinging to the Fife cliffs with sweeping views over St Andrews Bay.
- The Torrance Course (Fairmont St Andrews): A European Tour venue designed by Ryder Cup legend Sam Torrance, featuring deep revetted pot bunkers and fast-running fairways.
