Does playing a certain sport make you more susceptible to injury? RU Active Sports Physiotherapy senior physiotherapist Johnathan Jagger spoke to GYS about the common injuries occurring to young players in particular sports.
“Generally team sports such as football, rugby, basketball, netball and anything where there’s a likelihood of contact is where you’re usually going to expect injury which could potentially cause a trauma injury. They’re usually what we class as your acute injuries.
“Now your overuse injuries are things like in swimming and athletics where movements are very repetitive and again these cause the overuse injuries which can go on for a longer period of time.”
