The DASSA Select senior squads are nearing the conclusion of their six-week program but co-ordinator Michelle Rooney is enthusiastic about the inroads the teams have made.
Following tryouts the best in the region were chosen to form basketball, football and netball sides.
“It’s great to see them all in their different PE kits (at training),” Rooney said.
“It’s a really lovely community and inclusive way of having different students working with different people.”
It is not just the students that have added in extra sport to their week with Rooney giving credit to her fellow teachers.
“I’ve really got to give a shoutout to all the coaches who have done this on a voluntary basis, it’s wonderful,” she said.
“We had 19 members of staff within our community who are already busy and already running extra curricular programs who were willing to put their hand up and say ‘I’d like to do more.'”
