The achievements of the UAE's future sports stars were celebrated in Dubai on Friday evening at the 3rd edition of the UAE Teen Sports & Fitness Awards.
The event drew more than 550 promising athletes, proud parents and hard-working coaches to Arabian Ranches Golf Club where a host of awards were presented by a number of high profile dignatories, sponsors, and government officials.
Hamilton Aquatics enjoyed a particulalry successful evening, with several athletes receiving individual accolades; Head Coach Ash Morris picking up the Best Male Coach (Academy) Award, and the organisation winning the Best Club/Academy Award.
After another scintilating year on the sports field, Dubai powerhouses DC (Best Sports School) and DESC (Fittest School) were both recognised for their sporting prowess, whilst their Abu Dhabi neighbours also enjoyed considerable success; BSAK winning the best sports event category for the BSAK 7's, and Raha International School's popular Head of PE Jarrod Purdy being awarded the Best Male Coach/Manager Award.
The loudest cheers of the night were reserved for the youngsters who have pushed themselves to the limit in pursuit of athletic perfection, with the achievements of olympic swimming hopeful Lewis Burras (Hamilton Aquatics) and female rugby sensation Sophie Shams (Dubai Exiles) catching the eye in particular.
