KHDA Chairman Dr. Abdulla Al Karam Takes on NLCS Dubai in the 30×30 Fitness Challenge

As part of the Dubai Fitness Challenge, the city-wide initiative created by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council, Dr. Abdulla Al Karam, Chairman of the Board of Directors and Director General of the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) accepted a 30×30 fitness challenge by North London Collegiate School Dubai, competing in a morning of creative fitness activities with children and teachers on campus.

North London Collegiate School Dubai, currently ranked seventh (7th) among all schools on the Dubai Fitness Challenge leaderboard, marked the importance of health, fitness, and education by hosting Dr. Al Karam, an accomplished athlete and his team, who challenged the faculty and children in two fitness activities.

The 30×30 challenge kicked off with the school’s signature game, ‘Budge,” a long-standing tradition from the school’s London campus, followed by the Stair Master Challenge – a relay race on the atrium stairs of the school. Teams decided on their strategy and took on the stairs with great gusto, against the deafening cheers of students and staff from across all grade levels.

Mr. Daniel Lewis, Principal of NLCS Dubai, commented on the Dubai 30×30 Challenge saying, “We are pleased to welcome Dr. Abdullah for the Dubai Fitness Challenge. He is a role model to the students and his presence reflects a real-life example of the importance of fitness in their daily lives and that of the community overall.”

Mr. Lewis continued, “We are proud to rank seventh out of 346 schools registered for the Challenge. We’ve been open for 7 weeks, so to achieve seventh is quite an accomplishment and a testament to the efforts of our school community. We believe in offering our students a balanced program that includes sport, music and arts. Sports are really important because they develop our students’ fitness, health, leadership skills and nurtures the ability to work as a team, which is really important to their development, their achievements and fulfillment as successful adults.”
