FOOTBALL: Muscat International School Cheer Last Minute Messi Winner

Muscat International School returned home from a memorable 7 days in Spain following a Football Development Tour of a lifetime, Gulf Youth Sport reports.

The trip, arranged by Clyde van Graan, and led by teachers Mr James Dick and Mr Jamie Beddows, visited the iconic football cities of Barcelona and Madrid.

The 20 lucky students enjoyed training sessions with club coaching staff at the first team training complexes of RCD Espanyol and Real Madrid, played two international challenge matches against local schools, embarked on behind the scenes stadium tours of both the Camp Nou (FC Barcelona) and Santiago Bernabeau (Real Madrid), and watched Lionel Messi score a last minute winner to help FC Barcelona defeat Leganes 2-1 at the Camp Nou.

Trip organiser, Clyde van Graan, teacher at Muscat International School, said: Our students may have returned but the the amazing memories and adventures they have experienced live on! On behalf of the students, parents, school staff and management I want to thank all at Trans World Educational Experiences for such a memorable seven days in Spain."

Echoing Clyde, Mr Jamie said: "We had an exceptional seven days in Spain. The itinerary spoke for itself but the added extras of the media experience and staying at the Spanish FA national team hotel made us feel really special. The students enjoyed the company of our Tour Directors Michael and Art, and cameraman Joan, they made the trip alot more enjoyable for myself and Mr James."

Michael Pentland, Spanish programme co-ordinator at Trans World Educational Experiences said, "The students of Muscat International School represented themselves, their school and their families impeccably during their recent Football Development Tour. The students applied themselves in the training sessions, competed well in the challenge matches and, most importantly, thoroughly enjoyed themselves."
