Dubai English Speaking School’s under 12’s ran out convincing 6-0 winners over their DASSA counterparts Dubai College on Thursday afternoon.
The two sides have taken part in a number of competitive games in the past and DESC Head Coach Mr Barrett was delighted with the outcome.
“It was a fantastic result; Dubai College is normally one of our most competitive games but we really put on a show and played some really nice football.
“Keeping a clean sheet is quite important for us as well. You could see the structure in the boys and what they’ve been picking up from training – it was really positive today.”
Barrett believes that his team’s win was down to more than just the talent of his players. He says the positive feeling within the group is helping everyone to realise their full potential – something which was evident throughout the victory.
“There’s some great players individually and for us it’s about trying to piece them together and get them playing with team spirit in an environment they like to play in where they can go and express themselves and be creative.”
Coach Barrett was keen to reiterate the commitment his squad put in each week on the training pitch, which allows them to play with enjoyable and success on a match day.
“We do work fairly hard on the training ground as well it’s not just playing games – it’s tactically based and specifically game-related.”
James Aubrey is the team captain and he feels the things the squad have been working on in training are starting to pay off during the matches.
“I think it went really well, I felt everyone played really positively and we all put in as much effort as we usually do in a game. We’ve been talking a lot about team spirit and enjoying our playing time with the lads.”
