Dr. Khalid Abdullah: “The national League is challenging both clubs and private academies to raise their game by testing their play with every match”

19 February 2017, Dubai, UAE – In one of the most highly anticipated matches of the week, E-Sports and PSG faced off in a very intense game with PSG opening the score line with a strong free kick from Thomas Rousse in the 30th minute. At the start of the second half, E-Sports equalized with a penalty shot. In a surprising turn of events, both PSG and E-Sports were handed red cards, PSG ten minutes into the second half and E-sports near the end of the game, leading both teams to continue the game with only 10 players to finish the game with a score of 1-1.

In Abu Dhabi TFA met Al Jazira Club, with both teams fighting to move up the league table it was Abdullah Al Hamadi from Al Jazira Club who opened the score-line at 15 minutes into the match.   Al Jazira maintained their lead with a 2nd goal in the first half, but TFA gained a point from a penalty before the half time whistle.   With pressure on both teams, another 2 penalties and 3 goals later Al Jazira Club took the win with a 5-2 finish.

A high-energy match in Al Ain saw 2nd in the league table Al Ain Club facing off against 3rd in the league table Abu Dhabi Elite.  Al Ain striker David Guei scored an early goal just moments into the game and showcased his superb skills as he weaved through the Abu Dhabi Elite defense time and again to score an incredible 5 goals leading his team to dominate the match with a final 8-1 win.

In Dubai FCBEscola faced off against Legends.  With FCBEscola having finished strong in their last match against Abu Dhabi Elite, expectations were high from their coaches going into this match and they delivered playing a solid game and winning 3-1.

Al Ahli Club met Elite Academy, eager to regain their confidence after a loss to E-Sports last week. Home side Al Ahli were caught off guard, when Elite’s shot hit the back of the net in the 14th minute of the first half followed by a second goal at the 30th minute. Al Ahli came back strong on the attack with four goals during the second half to win the game 4-2.

The last match of the week was played between League leaders du LaLiga HPC and EFF with both teams fighting to gain maximum points in week 4 of the League. With swift, easy passes masterfully matched with pace and precision both teams made quick work of each other's opposing players, but it was Ahmad Salam from du LaLiga HPC who broke through the EFF defense and struck an effortless goal powering into the back of the net and from there HPC dominated the game, scoring another goal in the first half and 2 more in the second to finish the game at 4-0, maintaining a strong foothold at the top of the league.

Commenting on the League Dr. Khalid Abdullah, Managing Director, Football Association Academy,du UAE FAAL is a powerful platform, bringing together young athletes with very different styles of playing the universal game of football. However, the national League is challenging both clubs and private academies to raise their game by testing their play with every match. This exposure is what creates champions and will uplift the level of football in the country overall.”
