Elite Sports Academy met Soccer Kids Dubai on a sticky morning down at the Jebel Ali Centre of Excellence on Saturday.

It was the last day of the season with the winners of the under 11’s JAYL still undecided, so every kick of every ball was of maximum importance.

The game started with Elite enjoying the lion’s share of possession with a number of clever passages of play in the Soccer Kids half in the first five minutes. Even when Elite weren’t in control of the ball they were working hard and pressing high up the pitch to win it back.

Despite this, it was Soccer Kids who opened the scoring after six minutes when a powerful shot from range was parried to the goalkeeper’s left and after some good work from the Soccer Kids striker the ball found its way back towards goal and into the net from a tight angle.

Only a few minutes later Soccer Kids doubled their lead with arguably the goal of the game. Midfielder Ethan struck the ball on the half volley from around 15 yards and found the top corner with a looping finish over the Elite goalkeeper – a wonderful strike to put Soccer Kids 2-0 up going in to half time.

The second half started with positive spells for both sides with the goalkeepers being forced to make a couple of good saves. Despite the score line Elite continued to press high up the pitch and looked to carry on in the same manner as the first half.

Five minutes into the second half Soccer Kids scored again when some scrappy play in the box fell to the back post and was tapped in from five yards to stretch the lead to three goals.

It was soon 4-0 to Soccer Kids. After some neat passing in midfield the ball made its way out to Carlos who cut the ball back for Tin Tin to finish expertly past the goalkeeper and into the bottom left corner of the Elite net.

With five minutes remaining Soccer Kids scored again in a move which replicated the build up to their fourth goal. A cross from the right wing being tapped in at the back post to extend their lead.

With a minute left on the clock Elite worked the ball down the right-hand side. The resulting cut back was met at the edge of the box but the shot was high over the bar.

A bad day at the office for Elite, who will be disappointed with the result more than their performance and will be looking to get back to winning ways in the new year.
