Abu Dhabi Thistle took on Go Pro in the Jebel Ali Youth League Under 14 Division on Saturday morning.
Thistle eventually ran out 2-0 winners in a fiery match which saw a number of yellow cards and one sending off. Thistle’s Adham and Sergio were the scorers in a tight game with Sergio putting away a neat free kick high into the Go Pro net.
Thistle coach Pete Collings felt that his side had to work extremely hard to take three points from the game and credited Go Pro for their contribution to the game.
“We knew we were in a game today, up against a well organised and tough opponent in Go Pro. The boys battled to earn the right to play.”
Collings gave a special mention to the team’s defence and goalkeeper: “We were solid along the back in front of a confident keeper and the boys took their chances when they came. It was a great game to watch.”
Thistle’s win means they are now joint top of the JAYL with Fins FC, with both sides on 15 points.
