Horizon English School defeated Dubai English Speaking School 1-0 in a close-fought DASPA 4B match on Thursday afternoon.

The game saw a lot of nice passing football from both sides. Horizon created the match’s first real chance, with some neat play in the middle of the pitch resulting in a shot just wide of the DESS goal.

The victory was a positive result for Horizon but the team felt that his team could have added more to their goal tally during the game, but he concedes that their opponents were a tough test.

Horizon’s Jurgen said: “It was an end to end match and it was a really tough game. I think we could have scored a few more goals but it is how it is.”

Both goalkeepers were kept busy throughout the match which saw a number of shots and chances for each team during the afternoon.

Despite a 1-0 defeat, Dubai English Speaking School’s James was clearly upbeat after the match. He says he enjoyed the game even though his side didn’t get the result they wanted.

“It was great, I loved it. The whole team played very well and it was based on our luck that we lost,” he said.

Leading up to the match with Horizon English School, DESS’s players were well aware of the standard of opposition they would be facing and they prepared accordingly. There were some words of wisdom from the DESS coaching team.

“Before the match we were told to focus and concentrate on our positions throughout the game,” James continued.
